Australians need a visa to visit India. For holidays, visiting family and short business trips, the easiest option is the India e-Visa, applied for online before you fly.
What is the India e-Visa?
The e-Visa is an electronic visa issued by the Government of India. There are tourist, business and medical types, with different lengths of stay. It's linked to your passport, and you show it on arrival at a designated Indian airport or seaport.
What you'll need
- Your Australian passport, valid for at least six months from your arrival date
- A scan of your passport's photo page
- A recent face photo on a plain white background
- Your arrival date and arrival airport
- Your address in India, or your first hotel
- Your parents' names, occupation and employer details
- A reference contact in India and one in Australia
India is strict about photo and scan requirements, and that's where most applications get held up. We check yours before submitting.

We guide you through the long form in plain English, a person checks your answers, passport scan and photo before we submit, and we email you when there's an update. Choose how fast we submit: within 24 hours, 4 hours or 15 minutes.
